Coastal 1Bed Retreat | 5 Min to Sunset Cliffs

Our biggest issue was the "AC" in the listing. There was not central air, and the AC unit was only big enough to cool the bedroom. There was a ceiling fan in the living room to circulate air, but nothing in the kitchen. Also, the "private garden" was not private - it was shared between at least two other units. It wasn't a big for us, but the listing was misleading. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough, and the kitchen had a decent selection of basic tool. We did buy ice trays and a new skillet though. Water pressure in the shower was decent, and it was nice there was body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided. The bathroom fan didn't work, but we just left the door open and it was fine. A potential issue for other guests is the fan in the living room in underneath the skylight. While having the extra light from the skylights was very nice, having the fan below it was throwing shadows which could easily irritate people with sensory issues. Parking was free, but was street parking. We didn't have a big problem finding spots, but did have to walk a little under a block a few days. There was space in the alley to pull up the car for loading and unloading though.

Smoke detector in kitchen went off every time you cooked - oven, toaster oven even stovetop! Other than that kitchen was good! Extra blanket was stained so we took to laundromat. Everything else was clean! Walking distance to everything!

Love this location! Easy access to the highway, organic market, a killer burrito spot and great walking hills for an ocean view.Kitchen is cozy and the bedroom is spacious. Would stay again!

Overall we had a good experience. There were pro's and definitely some cons, though. Pros: We loved the location. Ocean beach is a quiet friendly area with good food, good shopping, and a great beach just a few blocks away. We took full advantage of having a small Target close by, and ended up cooking breakfast and dinner each day to help save money (More on that later). We spent every evening at the beach playing in the sand and water, and combing for sea shells. That was the highlight of our stay. We rented a car for our stay, and the location was a great central point for all of our adventures.Cons:the outdoor area is fenced off, but shared with other guests. On our last night, the neighbors had too much to drink and puked right next to the picnic table. My kids had been playing out there while my wife and I cooked, but not that night. My biggest complaint is that the week of my stay, they put a "hold" of 400 on my card. When asked about it, they said it wasn't a charge, but the money definitely left my bank account. This might not be a problem for some, but this vacation came at a bad time, and we almost didn't go. The money was returned after our stay, but that did change our stay. To compensate for that loss, we cooked breakfast and dinner every day of our 1 week stay. Our original plan was to eat a couple times at the nearby Mexican restaurants and Breakfast republic, but we missed that experience this time.

Stay was good, close to beach just a little noisy from the aircraft traffic.
